When KL people gone to Pulau Ketam

The boat

Pulau Ketam, Crab Island, is a small island located off the coast of Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. It is a perfect place destination for one day trip. You may take KTM ride from any station to Pelabuhan Klang, and from there you can take the ferry to Pulau Ketam which takes about half an hour. Another option is you can drive all the way to the jetty and then take the ferry to there. There is a very large parking area provided. Pulau Ketam has a small population which is around 8,000 people and most of them are Chinese (Teochew and Hokkien). The main dialects spoken are Teochew, Hokkien and Mandarin Chinese.

Sufficient life jackets are in the boat

We were quite late when we reached there. It was already almost 2pm and all of us did not have our breakfast or lunch yet. So we went to Restaurant Kim Hoe to have our lunch. All of us were really hungry.

Steamed clam *yummy

While waiting for our food to come, we ordered oyster fried from the stall which is just outside the restaurant. Other than oyster fried, there are La-la fried and oyster and La-La mix fried. You may choose the size also. There are small, regular and large and the price range from RM 6 to RM 12.

Gone empty in a blink of eye

Before

After

Fried sotong

Everything gone into our stomach.

After the lunch, we went to walk around. The main thoroughfares are narrow concreted pavements, whilst in the residential areas, the older rickety wooden plank bridges can still be seen. There are no cars in Pulau Ketam, only bicycles, some of which are motorised. There are quite a number of temples in Pulau Ketam, big and small.

This is the biggest temple at there.

I don't know why, but normally you can see tortoises in temples.

The one and only fire station.

Fish pond.

Houses in Pulau Ketam. They don't close their door, just imagine if you do that in KL.

Sad isn't it? Rubbish scattered around, say no to pollution!

A very big basketball court.

Friendly and cute kids in the neighbourhood, yet they are naughty too.

Scene that rarely can be seen in KL.

Maybank spotted!

No worries of using up your money, ATM machine is on  your rescue!

Some fishing boats.

Wooden houses and also fishing boats.

An aunty making ice-kacang. It was really a hot weather.

Doggy crossing river.

Vandalism, a spoiled public phone.

Fried ice-cream. There are many flavours and this uncle's business was good. You have to queue to buy.

Lastly, do remember to buy some souvenirs back!

Good bye! See you soon!

We took the last boat to go back to the jetty. Pulau Ketam is quite a nice place for you to escape from the hustle bustle city life. I like the life there, just so simple. Children there are so friendly and playful. They don't carry the burden that most of the KL children carry nowadays - homework, tuition class and homework. Adults there just let their doors widely open and their kids running around the neighbourhood, which you can't see in KL. However, Pulau Ketam is facing several problems such as the pollution. According to my mother, Pulau Ketam used to be cleaner than what it looks like now. I think the government or authorities should do something about it to preserve such interesting place. Although there isn't much sightseeing places in Pulau Ketam, but it is a community that having its own unique culture.

My Generasi, Your Generasi?

Recently, there is this hit video on Facebook, "My Generasi". I recalled back what I did back in my childhood, playing Batu Seremban, the rope skipping game, and most of all, I missed Pepsi Cola. I used to play that with my friends during recess time.

Those days are just like a blink of eye, as if it just happened months ago. I believe child nowadays don't spend their childhood like how we used to. Video games, PSP, xBox, iPhone, iPad, are what they are talking now. They talked about Angry Birds, Angry Birds and Angry Birds. I really wonder what's so best about shooting the pigs. I have to admit that their era is different from us, even cartoon these days has gone so differently compare to those days. I am quite shocked that kids nowadays don't know about Popeye The Sailorman. I mean, Popeye is like a classic right?

Popeye who becomes so strong after eating spinach

Luckily, they still know about Doraemon but they don't get so addicted with Doraemon like how we used to be.

Nobita, Doraemon and friends

Also, Tom and Jerry. I remembered my brother and I used to wake up early during the weekends just to watch cartoons. We love Tom and Jerry a lot and I still do now. What do kids nowadays do during their weekends? It is whether tuition classes or attend art class or music class. Sometimes, I really pity them a little because some of the parents out there really demand too much from their children on academic aspects. They are just children, don't you think it is a little too much? They should enjoy their childhood!

Tom and Jerry, never stop fighting

Power Rangers? Talk about Power Rangers the children might call you outdated. The superheroes nowadays are Ben 10, Transformers and some I don't know what they call.

Different color ranger has different ability!

The other superheroes such as Ultraman, Spiderman and Batman which I don't think they are still on air nowadays.

Batman

Spiderman

Scooby-Doo! I wondered if it is still showing on Cartoon Network. Cartoons like this should really be aired on television because it actually can help children to learn and think. I used to guess and bet who's the culprit with my brother. We watched almost every episodes of the Scooby-Doo.

Scooby Doo, where are you!

Martin Mystery is also another nice cartoon mystery to watch.

The Team

There were also plenty of girl cartoons back then such as Powerpuff Girls, Totally Spies and also Sailormoon!

The three little girls, Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup

There are still many cartoons that I watched during my childhood, such as Totally Spies, Sailormoon, Crayon Shin-chan, Dexter's Laboratory, Inspector Gadget and many more. As comparison, I think that cartoons nowadays are getting little as time goes by. Most likely it is because it has been replaced by technologies and games.

This is my generation, how about yours?
